An excellent training dinghy, the Wayfarer has also been proven beyond doubt to be the best small craft for cruising and is also one of the best supported racing classes in the UK. The Kestrel has seen plenty of action since it's conseption by Ian Proctor in 1956. Wether it be inland waters or out to sea, the boat performs like a dream. In 2000 the Kestrel was brought up to date by Hartley Boats design and build team, they have managed to do what many said was an impossible task, to improve the Kestrel. The Osprey design was originally penned by the late Ian Proctor in the early 1950’s. It was designed for the Olympic Selection Trials along with several others; two of which became the Flying Dutchman and 505 of today. The Flying Dutchman was chosen even after being beaten in the first round by the Osprey. Click on th link below to see for yourself.
