This new concept Zenith II boat will be a very special boat in the entire Hartley Boats range, as well as being the third and last member of the existing Zenith family, all sailing together ‘this boat will be so special’.
Why so special? Not because I have spent another £100k of my pension on patterns, moulds, tooling and jigs but, because I have been informed by both Mark and Phil Morrison (our designer) this is the last new boat I will be involved in before I retire. I have warned Mark and Phil this must be the best ever boat they have worked on and designed.
Both Mark and I were surprised when we received enquiries and even committed orders for the Zenith II having only shared the details of the boat with a few close friends as well as the necessary boat equipment suppliers.
With final drawings and specifications signed off and soon to start work on the moulds and boat production is exciting.
This Zenith II-person dinghy, without doubt, is a beautiful, sleek and stunning designed boat. When you see it you will want to sail it.
I have always been in love with my first boat, the Kestrel and the Osprey, they are both super sailing dinghies, they were my first boats acquired from the Proctor family but, this new concept Zenith II will be an amazing boat. We all, at Hartley Boats, cannot wait to see the first boat out of the moulds and even better for when I sail and test it with Mark. The first Zenith II, my own boat, will have testing completed as soon as possible.
During 30 years of boat building I have never seen Mark and Phil work so hard spending days, weeks and months on one project. The level of detail, thought, innovation and skill set has been, for me, a privilege to be part of the team. As stated, I am excited even without seeing the finished boat and will be even more excited to race the very first Zenith II boat made.
Amazing, without any pictures or drawings we have over 10 Zenith II's now sold, this will be the best non- trapeze double-hander ever made.
With the Zenith II committee formed, the 2026 calendar organised and set with 7 open meetings throughout the Country, an Inland Championship at Blithfield SC and the National Championships at Poole it is going to be a great and exciting year for the Zenith family Sailors.
Racing will commence with the fastest boat, the Zenith II, starting first with the Zenith starting 5 minutes behind and the Zen starting 5 minutes after the Zenith.
It is intended to have Inland Nationals and Open Meetings for each of the Zenith range of boats. As well as great sailing, there will be great onshore times had for the family, good food, drinks and entertainment with a very welcoming and friendly family atmosphere.

We are so confident that if after securing your build slot with a £500 deposit should you either not enjoy your test sail or if you are not delighted and enjoy sailing your new Zenith II within one month, we will refund your monies in full.
